Media coverage of sportsTuesday, 5 July 2011 by Iancallagy  Iancallagy Wimbledon has just ended and tennis fans will already be moving on to the next event on the calendar for their sport. The media will not miss the back of Wimbledon of course; they have plenty to report on, regarding sport. I’m looking through a British Sunday newspaper and sport, as always, gets significant coverage. From the wonderful colourful images to speculation on the latest managerial resignation at a football club. Sports writing and photography is of major importance in selling newspapers and satisfying the appetite of their readers. The publicity the media can bring to sport should never be underestimated. Andy Murray, Rory McIlroy, Lewis Hamilton, Ryan Giggs and Brian O’Driscoll are five sports stars who have had reams written about them in the sports pages of our national press.
